70th Neige et Glace rally, February 22-26, 2024!

THE 2025 ROUTE EXPLAINED IN DETAIL

Bjorn and Jens Vanoverschelde (JBREvents), the new people responsible for the new route of the Neige et Glace Rally, take a closer look at the 2025 edition.

STAGE 1 - SUNDAY 23 FEBRUARY
We start during the day and with 3 brand new ZRs! (+/- 120 km | 4 ZR)

On Sunday 23 February, the first crew will set off at... 14h30! That's right. For the first time, the opening stage of the Rallye Neige & Glace 2025 will not be run under headlights.

In previous editions, the race started with a night stage, which was generally very difficult," explains Bjorn Vanoverschelde. “We want to give less experienced teams or those taking part in their first race after the ‘winter break’ a chance to get into the rhythm. The course we are presenting this year is by nature sufficiently selective, which means we can organize the opening stage perfectly in daylight."
The opening stage already features no fewer than 4 regularity zones (ZR). Just one kilometer after the official start in the center of Pontarlier, the 70 th Rallye Neige et Glace kicks off with the first ‘ZR show’, open to the public, on the heights of the town. On the program: 3 ZRs, 2 of them completely new. "We want to set the tone for an edition with a radically altered route. What's more, it will enable teams taking part for the first time to compete on equal terms with teams who have a great deal of experience of the track!"

STAGE 2 - MONDAY 24 FEBRUARY
The Jura via its forest tracks (+/- 310 km | 10 ZR)

Over the course of the first full day of competition, we'll be contesting no fewer than 10 ZRs. We start with a familiar regularity stage before tackling the new ‘forest ZRs’. "The forest stages are shorter regularity tests, but 100% set out on forest roads which are generally not cleared of snow at this time of year, which should guarantee a course with a number of challenges whatever the weather conditions. We'll be alternating these tests with longer regularity tests on winding roads, mainly located at altitude, to increase the chances of encountering winter conditions. This stage is extremely complete and varied, with some of the most beautiful stretches and panoramas that the Jura has to offer.

STAGE 3 - TUESDAY 25 FEBRUARY
Marathon stage with night stages (+/- 430 km | 18 ZR)

No fewer than 18 regularity zones are on the menu for this marathon stage! There's no time to take a breather, as the first (and very familiar) regularity test is on the menu just after the start podium. "The rest of the stage consists of a succession of reworked ZRs and new ZRs interspersed with short links. A real marathon stage with a lot of pace and competition relieved by a few ‘regroups’.

After a break in the small hamlet of Malans, where the rally atmosphere is assured, this marathon stage will finish, as it did last year, with a night stage run under the sole glow of headlights."The night loop will start in Malans and will include the famous slalom event. The setting for the night stage is once again the Forêt de la Joux. It's a magnificent setting with plenty of room for two completely new ZRs before we reach Malbuisson in the evening.

STAGE 4 - WEDNESDAY 26 FEBRUARY
Rochejean power 2, a 36 km Marathon ZR and a brand new ‘Power ZR’ (+/- 220 km | 8 ZR)

For the contenders for overall victory, the Marathon stage will undoubtedly not be the high point of this 2025 edition. So there's no question of resting on their laurels or coasting to the finish! The fourth and final stage of the 2025 Neige et Glace Rally will also be worth its weight in points!

"The last stage around Lac de St-Point is always known for its surprises. We haven't changed the DNA of the stage, but we have modified the finish and the variety. On the menu: the Rochejean ZR, a 36km ‘marathon ZR’ (the longest ZR of the rally!) and a wild finale that includes a second crossing of the Rochejean ZR, a brand-new ‘forest ZR’ and a brand-new ‘Power ZR’ with double points!"
